Gambiered Silk Thousand-Layer Sole Slip-Ons (Men's, Black / Brown)
Black, and the natural brown of the dye. Shuliang-dyed silk, quietly gracing the feet.
Gambiered silk (xiangyunsha) is a traditional Chinese silk weave whose threads are dyed with shuliang juice, mud-mordanted and finished in sunlight. This is a laceless slip-on (yijiaodeng) cloth shoe using that silk on the upper, in two colors of different depth — a composed black, and the warm natural brown unique to shuliang dyeing. The sole is a thousand-layer sole (qiancengdi), layers of cloth stitched fast with thread: flexible, breathable, cool on the feet and close to barefoot.
- Gambiered silk upper — plain shuliang-dyed silk in Black and Brown (natural), two colors
- Thousand-layer sole construction — the traditional layered, stitched structure. Soft and gentle on the feet
- Clear anti-slip sole — clear rubber under the cloth sole for confident street walking
- Slip-on style (yijiaodeng) — step in quickly with no laces. Low heel of 1-3cm
As house shoes, and beyond — tai chi, zazen, tea gatherings, garden strolls, daily walks and travel. A pair in step with a zen everyday. The insole bears a red printed motif (actual design).
