Gambiered Silk Thousand-Layer Sole Slip-Ons (Golden Brown)
Golden-brown silk that takes on light with every step.
Gambiered silk (xiangyunsha) is a traditional Chinese silk weave whose threads are dyed with shuliang juice, mud-mordanted and finished in sunlight. Its golden-brown ground shows the crackle-like texture unique to shuliang dyeing, changing expression with the angle of light. We shaped this fabric into a pair of cloth shoes. The sole is a thousand-layer sole (qiancengdi), layers of cloth stitched fast with thread: flexible, breathable, cool on the feet and close to barefoot.
